These are samurai warriors' residences, where twenty samurai warriors, Matsusaka-gojoban, who guarded Matsusaka Castle, and their families lived. They are the largest samurai residences built in the Edo period in existence, and they were designated as an important cultural property by the nation in 2004. Tourists are allowed to look around one home located at the north end of the west house.
